It kind of is a first day of school. Not only because it’s literally the beginning of a new semester, but also because this is my first time back in college in fifteen years. Add to that, it’s my first time doing online classes, and I’m more than a little nervous. Add to it the fact that my mother decided to do a little backflip over a chair while taking some room measurements, and now I’m working full time, taking care of parents full time, and undertaking graduate studies full time on top of being on the Bartram Trail Society of Florida and Putnam County Historical Society executive boards. It looks like I’ve certainly got my work cut out for me for these next few months!
The fist week isn’t exactly a brain-tingler; we’re just doing introductions in all three classes. It’s truly interesting to see how many different kinds of people are in the classes. I’m definitely one of the older students at 44 years old, but there’s a smattering of people that have similar backgrounds and even some experience. It’s a little intimidating being older and starting an education into a career that I’ve spent six years working in already, but I feel that since I intend to make this my career for life, it would be best to get the degree that affords me the best opportunity to succeed. Here’s hoping for the best!
